Kicks for Kids – Working With Basketball Canberra

On Thursday 12th August, Big Bangs Australia delivered 100+ pairs of shoes to Basketball Canberra.

Basketball ACT is supporting the FIBA Oceania ‘Soul to Sole-Our Heart to Your Feet’project. Donations of shoes(and maybe socks) helps in community and school basketball programs in Pacific countries. The countries being partnered are small in population and poor by our standards.Despite this, basketball continues to hold its own in being the preferred second sport in the Pacific. Mountain Ballers – Gap, France

Mountain Ballers, part 2 !
The city of Gap, located in the south eastern part of France, is about to experience its first Big Bang event.  The French crew is enhancing its network to new ballers from the mountains !

Big Bangs Cocktail Fundraiser 2010

Can you believe it’s already been a year since the Big Bangs officially launched?  At the time who could have imagined how quickly we would expand, how many kids we would serve, how many emergency packs, basketballs, t-shirts, meals, shoes, uniforms, textbooks and school supplies we would go through…

Ballin’ In Bangladesh, Under-17 Charity League

In March of this year, the Big Bangs organized an under-17 basketball league.
All the participants were kids who were no older than juniors in high school.  These kids were desperate for a tournament which wasn’t being dominated by seniors, college students and adults (sadly that includes the Big Bangs).  It was no fun for them to register in a tournament just to lose every game by 50 points or more.  These kids wanted fair and even competition and the Big Bangs gave it to them.

First French Big Bangs Champions

The Big Bangs France launched their activities in April 2010. After taking benefits from a tournament organized in the Alps, we sponsored two teams, boys and girls, in the inter-uni annual tournament. Great success!
The IEP boys and girls teams won their respective tournament in Strasbourg, France. The teams, led by Cesar and Domi, both member of French board, gave their maximum to beat teams like Paris, Lyon or Lille.

First tournament held in France

Have you heard? The Big Bangs are getting started in France! First tournament held on Saturday 24th 2010 in Grenoble, South East of France.
Thanks to the support of the UPMF university and the IEP Sports Organization, the Big Bangs showed people from the region how great Bangladeshi-style bball tournaments are!
Good folks, happy faces, crazy moves and breathtaking monster dunks: all the ingredients were there for the perfect day.
The Team Rocket won the “Fellows” Tournament while the BCTM 1 dominated the “ladies” tourney.

“Small Bang” Organises Health-Conscious Tournament

From February 15-20, Karar, a member of the “Small Bangs”, organized a school tournament which was held at the Abahani Basketball Federation court in the Dhanmondi area of Dhaka.
Decco Foods sponsored the event with a ‘War Against Nicotine’ slogan.  8 school teams participated with large crowds of kids attending to show support for their schools.
Small Bangs played for Mastermind School (Karar) and Green Herald School (Walid and Angelo).  Maple Leaf won the finals in a great game against Mastermind.

Sideline From A Big Bangs Camp

Very brief snapshot of some of the side things that happen at a Big Bangs Camp.
The girls treat us to a beautiful song, which Julien then attempts with varying degrees of success… Rodrigue and Junad run a scrimmage on one court, while Asif and Julien take another 2 teams through a game on the far side.
