On Wednesday the 2nd of September the BIG BANGS were guests of Basketball ACT at the Australian Opals vs New Zealand Tall Ferns game.

Besides watching an incredible game of basketball, and cheering for the hometown Aussies of course, the Big Bangs were honored to be presented with a sponsorship donation of $500 by Basketball ACT.  Our sincere and humble thanks to Mark Cartwright for the donation and his support these past few months.  We are extremely excited and proud to partner with Basketball ACT, who are the governing body in the Australian Capital Territory and great supporters of the game at all levels.

The love and support from the crowd really overwhelmed all the Big Bangs in attendance.  Thanks to all the donations on the night, we made an incredible $700+ over and above the donation from Basketball ACT!

With support like this from the governing body AND the local community, it’s easy to see just how motivated and inspired the Big Bangs are to keep on improving and expanding!

All money raised this month will be going towards our international programs – that’s 95% of funds DIRECTLY into tournaments, clinics and camps at schools and orphanages in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal and the Philippines, with the extra 5%  being spent on promotional items to raise even more funds for those programs.

Early next year we will setting off on our Australian Tour, bringing our programs to communities around the country; from urban camps targeting youth at risk, to building courts and donating goods to rural areas, all the way up north to indigenous communities, bringing more supplies, uniforms, shoes, basketballs and even building courts wherever we can! 

Basketball brings people together, and it certainly did last night.

• Running into NBA 1st round draft pick and Canberra native Patrick Mills
• giving a Big Bangs shirt to ACT Sports Minister Andrew Barr
• being presented a cheque by Mark Cartwright on behalf of Basketball ACT
• seeing kids wearing Big Bangs t-shirts at the end of the game
• running into LEGENDARY Michelle Timms
• the guy singing the Australian National Anthem BELTING it out… so proud!
• seeing a young’n drop 2 3′s on Pierre’s head at the end of the game
• representing Big Bangs at a FIBA event
