Tongue & Groove presents the Big Bangs Cocktail Fundraiser 2010!
Join us for an evening of canapes, bubbles, music, laughter and a raffle, all to support the work of the Big Bangs!
Tickets are $50, with all proceeds directly funding our work in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, India, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.
Here’s what $50 does across the world:
• Creates 100 “emergency packs” for street and slum kids in Bangladesh, containing enough rice, oil, soap, water and milk for a week.
• Purchases enough basketballs, t-shirts and supplies to run a day-camp …

In March of this year, the Big Bangs organized an under-17 basketball league.
All the participants were kids who were no older than juniors in high school.  These kids were desperate for a tournament which wasn’t being dominated by seniors, college students and adults (sadly that includes the Big Bangs).  It was no fun for them to register in a tournament just to lose every game by 50 points or more.  These kids wanted fair and even competition and the Big Bangs gave it to them.

Let’s go right inside the heart of the Alps, in France, south east part, between mountains, far away from the Bangladeshi heat. Here you are, in Grenoble, a strange place where weird animals are living.
They are from what is called the “IEP”. A mixture between a high standard school and a friendly shelter for psyche people like us. Great place.

Big Bang Philippines extended Christmas Party at Bantay Bata on Jan 23.
Another rainy saturday in Iligan City but not an ordinary one because this day all Big Bangs advocates are going to hold an extended Christmas party to the children of Bantay Bata. The small shelter, the people around them, the daily routines that were not gonna change. Nothing’s really gonna changed except for one. Last night I also attended a fundraising function organised by Pierre Johannessen, the CEO of the Big Bang Ballers, and his committee. They are members of an international NGO using the game of basketball to fight youth poverty and social disadvantage world wide. The Canberra Players League have been supporters of the Big Bangs since we first began operations in Australia, so they could be forgiven for taking a couple of weeks off from anything Big Bang related… but no.
